We love sharing information with our patients about TMJ and how Columbia, SC neuromuscular dentist Dr. Adam Hahn is changing lives by treating the painful symptoms of TMJ, aligning bites, and restoring full function to people who have been suffering from symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ/TMD).

Here in our media gallery, you’ll find videos that explain what Dr. Hahn and his team provide people with TMJ who, just like you, are facing the problems that TMJ causes in and around the head, face, jaw, neck, back, and even the upper extremities.

Smile Columbia – Health and Well-Being WIS News

In this first video, Dr. Hahn explains the basics of neuromuscular dentistry and how bite alignment is an integral part of TMJ treatment in Columbia, SC, to a WIS-TV reporter. Dr. Hahn and his wife illustrate how K7 and TENS technology help diagnose and treat TMJ.

What a Bad Bite is Doing to You – Dr. Curtis Westersund

In this second video, Dr. Curtis Westersund explains how important the alignment of the teeth and jaw is to our ability to balance and function. A staggering 25-30% of the American population suffers from TMJ, whether that be mild, moderate, or severe Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. As many as 70% of the American population may have symptoms related to dysfunction of the Temporomandibular Joints.

  The Rocabado rollback technique

In our third video, the Rocabado Rollback Technique is illustrated. Developed by Dr. Mariano Rocabado, this exercise routine was designed to combat the symptoms of TMJ dysfunction.

Please watch the video and read the steps below:

  1. Place your tongue in its resting position, and put the tip of your tongue on the mouth’s upper palate, putting gentle pressure on the palate.
  2. Open and close the jaw while gently pressing the tip of the tongue on the palate.
  3. Place two fingers on the chin, and open and close your jaw while pressing the tongue on the palate.
  4. Lift and lower the chin as if nodding the head to extend the neck.
  5. Squeeze the shoulder blades together while lifting and lowering the chest.
  6. Bring your chin toward your neck (creating a “double chin”), and then push it out again.
