Martin Hedley is a 27-year-old British man who has dealt with crippling back pain since the age of 12. He has tried many different treatments, and been unable to get relief, so he has sought TMJ treatment in an attempt to finally cure his back pain.
Doing His Own Research
Hedley first experienced his crippling back pain when he was 12 years old. He had to withdraw from school because of the pain. Unfortunately, the pain has only gotten worse over time, and now he is often unable to get out of bed because of the pain.
He has been trying to find a treatment for his back pain, but the wide range of medical experts Hedley saw were unable to identify the cause. Then he began his own research and found out that TMJ is sometimes associated with back pain.
Hedley realized that his back pain was often worse after eating, and that eating hard foods resulted in more pain than softer foods.
He sought out a TMJ expert in the US and has had some preliminary treatments, which will include both orthodontics and overlays for his teeth. He says that his bite is already feeling better, but that his body has been in its painful position for so long that it will take a while for him to achieve a normal, healthy position.
Is TMJ the Cause of Your Back Pain?
It is very rare for TMJ to result in such severe back pain as that experienced by Mr. Hedley. However, back pain is not an unusual symptom for TMJ. If you have tried conventional treatment for your back pain without success. If you have other symptoms of TMJ such as jaw pain and headaches. And if you notice that pain gets worse after jaw activity, such as eating or talking, TMJ may be responsible for your back pain.
